This course is aimed at all employees. It serves as an induction courses covering the key aspects of health and safety in most work environments in the UK. It also serves as an annual refresher course to help keep employees up to date with health and safety best practice. Some people will benefit from completing more advanced and specific courses once they have completed this introductory course.

The course lasts between two to three hours and you must pass the assessment at the end of the course to receive your certificate.


Health and Safety Induction

Health and safety at work affects all employees, contractors and the self-employed. In this induction course you will explore all the key elements of working safely in the workplace, including keeping yourself safe from harm and protecting the health and safety of those around you. In this course you will learn:

  • Employer and employee duties
  • Safety signs and signals
  • Legislation covering the safe use of hazardous substances
  • Office safety including workstation and DSE risks
  • How to perform manual handling activities safely
  • The importance of accident reporting and the role of a first aider
  • Fire safety and how to evacuate
  • Health and hygiene, including food hygiene and hand hygiene
  • Common types of workplace machinery and the regulations governing their safe use
  • The types of personal protective equipment and why they are a ‘last option’ when it comes to safety.
